Woofus

September 22, 2015

The Texas Woofus is part of a fountain / sculpture that is located in front of the Swine Building on MLK Blvd. near the Pan Am Gate. There are public restrooms near the Woofus. According to Fair Park legend and lore, the original concrete Woofus, designed by sculptor Lawrence Tenney Stevens in 1936, disappeared. The replacement Woofus is ten feet wide and ten feet tall, and was installed on the original pedestal in 1998. Part Woofus - part Texas long horn, part sheep, part stallion, part hog, part turkey, and something else.
