One of my favorite events at the State Fair of Texas is the Backyard Circus. For many years, a very entertaining old man was the circus announcer. I always came to see him round up the volunteer performers and teach them how to put on the Backyard Circus show. The lady who has taken over the last few years is just as good. This year, the performance that I caught was so cute.
They have costumes for the children, and they instruct the children on how to do each part of the show. There are butterfly ballerinas, a tightrope walker, lions and tigers, a lion and tiger tamer, and the human cannonball. What I love about the Backyard Circus the most is that it encourages children of all ages to use their imaginations.
